Getting the Holy Spirit

Finally after years of searching, Tisha and I found a church. We are now attending Pentecostal Tabernacle in Cambridge, Ma. We really love the service and the people are great. Tisha and I attend Bible study on Mondays and we even hooked up with another young married couple for dinner. I think God is planting some seeds for us to stay in Boston following our respected programs.

BC Law Crew Team

One of my dreams is coming true. Ever since watching "Skulls" starring Josh Jackson, I wanted to learn how to row. Thanks to my Uncle Marshall, I got the chance to row at Wilmington Rowing Club a few years ago. It was a great experience and I am forever grateful for that opportunity.

Well, since BC Law is putting together a crew team, I get another chance to get in the boat. The race in on April 21 and I am working really hard to get in the best shape of my life. I'm hitting the gym 3 times a week and rowing for 30 minutes on my off days.

I hope to post some pictures of us training as well as on race day.
I'll keep you posted.

BC Lacrosse

Thanks to 1L Zack, I got a exclusive seat at the BC v. BU Lacrosse game in the bubble. I'm big fan of lacrosse and I really enjoyed the game. I think my curiosity with lacrosse stems from the fact that I didn't play at Tatnall. The Lacrosse coach always harassed me in the halls to come out for the team but I wanted to run track. Maybe I should have listened to him.

Law Prom / Election

Sorry guys but I didn't win the election for LSA President. It was a tough race and but I came up short. I just want to thank everyone for voting for me and I wish Adam the best of luck next year.

As far as the Law Prom, Tisha and I had a good time but we thought last year was better. The live band was good but they slacked off for the last hour playing only oldies and dance music. I want to thank Josh and Meredith for showing us a good time.
You can check out more pictures of the Law Prom in my picture link.

Law Prom

Get ready to go back to High school. BC Law is having their annual law prom on Friday. This year is suppose to be bigger and better than last year because BC Law is celebrating their 75 year anniversary.

Tisha and I are ready to dance the night way on Friday so we hope to see everyone there. I will post some pictures on the blog next week.

Thank You For Supporting Me

Since this is the last night of Campaigning, I want to give a final push for your vote on Thursday and Friday The most important thing that I learned during law school and this campaign is that: it's not what you know but who you know. Now that the candidates emerged with their ideas, we get a chance to see who is really making things happen on campus. My hope is that whoever wins the election, use these resources to make positive changes on campus.
Personally, having access to people who make great websites and promote great events can only enhance the school's quality of life. What I would bring to the table is someone who can connect all these great resources (as well as my own) to produce something great for BC Law. I would organize new committees to help develop great websites and help promote great trips for law students. One issue that I talked about today during the candidate forum, was connecting the law school with the main campus. I would do this by harnessing the connections of the Double Eagles but take it further by attempting to develop "Super Fan Law Students" T-shirts or having more sporting events.
Thus, if you put your trust in the "3C" system, I promise to do everything in my power to improve the quality of life at BC Law. I basically want to be a connector and a promoter of all things that are great about our school.

Branden Brooks

p.s.
It's been a great ride and I thank you for supporting me.
Don't forget to vote.

March Madness

Go BC!!!

Coming from Ursinus College (Division 3) and Harvard Divinity School, I never had the chance to root for my school during March Madness. BC Law gave me my first experience of Division 1 sports and I'm loving every minute of it. It's so exciting to watch your own school on TV! Although I must admit that Ivy League football games are shown on local TV, however, it never comes close to the excitement of watching a bowl game on ESPN. So while other people are torn between their undergraduate school and their law school, I will be rooting for BC because they're all I got.

With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility

The reason why I'm running for LSA President is to prove that little people can make big changes and do great things. I have no doubt in my mind that the "3C" approach to the presidency will generate positive changes on campus.

Communication:
  • Improve the line of communication the LSA board to voice concerns, proposals, and other inquires
  • Better promotion of the LSA website and the eagleionline site
  • Entire school facebook (the book they give out to 1Ls)

Career:
  • More information about non-law firm jobs
  • Start a career services website with useful information, calender, and alumni contacts
  • Improve Alumni relations

Community:
  • Harness the energy of the 1Ls to inspire the rest of the campus to get involved
  • More 2L events
  • Greater connection with the Main Campus

JRAP

For those of you who don't know, I am in the Juvenile Rights Advocacy Project (JRAP) clinic and having the time of my life. From representing girls in Lowell Juvenile Court to coordinating art class in a Dorchester lockup, JRAP have giving me the confidence and the skills to represent juveniles in trouble and help get them back on track!

I urge everyone to sign up for a clinic while in law school!

Campaign Trail

It was confirmed today that we have a total of 4 candidates for LSA President. Its going to be a great race but rest assure that the Brooks Camp is working hard to stay competitive. I may not have the social capital to put on a great party or build a great website but I have the drive and
the ability to be a great president. Help me make this law school all it can be and more!
Vote Branden Brooks for LSA President next Thursday and Friday!!

Please help me by spreading the word.

C ommunity- I want to improve the sense of community on campus
C areer - I want to improve the quality of service in the career center
C ommuication - I want to improve the dialogue between the leadership and the student body

Vote for me on Thursday, March 22 and Friday, March 23!
